Maghreb’s Scientific Output Dwarfs South Africa’s
Maghreb countries scientific journal output is so insignificant that it is actually less than South Africa’s. According to Scimago Journal & Country Rank, the combined output of Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania is still smaller than South Africa’s. The latter produced 342060 documents in the years 1996 to 2020.
In the first spot from the region comes Tunisia which produced 104541 documents, followed by Algeria (84192), and Morocco (83349), Libya (7085), and last Maurtiania (870).
