Houssem Aouar Chooses to Represent Algeria

The player of Olympique Lyonnais, Houssem Aouar, posted a photo on his Instagram account wearing the Algerian jersey, officially announcing his choice to represent the Fennecs on the international stage. Djamel Belmadi, the Algerian national team coach, can now count on Houssem Aouar.

As announced by L’Équipe on Tuesday, the midfielder of Olympique Lyonnais confirmed on Thursday that he will now represent Algeria in the national team, via a photo posted on his Instagram account. He is seen wearing a Fennecs jersey. The image is accompanied by a “Long live Algeria” and a flag of the country in the description.

He had honored a selection with the French team on October 7, 2020, in a friendly match against Ukraine. The 24-year-old player, born in Lyon, also holds Algerian nationality due to his family origins. The Algerian coach will announce his squad for the upcoming gathering on Friday.
