Algerian President Tebboune Declared Winner Of Elections

Algerian President Abdulmadjid Tebboune was declared the winner of Saturday’s election with 95% of the vote, according to official results.

Despite this, a rival candidate, Abdelaali Hassani Cherif, raised concerns over potential irregularities in the vote count. Hassani Cherif’s campaign accused officials of inflating results and noted issues with vote-sorting transparency.

Tebboune’s re-election ensures the continuation of policies focused on social spending, supported by rising energy revenues.

His government has raised unemployment benefits, pensions, and public housing. Turnout was 48%, with some voters expressing distrust in the political system.
